Interesting & filled with new opportunities

And now as a Coordinator how are the responsibilities different from that of a Teacher?

As a coordinator responsibilities are those of not only a teacher but an administrator as well. Plus in lite sense they are those of a baby sitter as well. Syllabus completion, monitoring students overall performance, their all round development, more importantly discipline & control.

Tell us something about the college

The college offers great atmosphere which helps the students to understand the intricacies of the real world. Teachers, coordinators, principal are available for hem as & when required. There are certain common events like freshers’ party for all the self financing courses which gives the students the opportunity to meet & interact fellow students from the college.

The college has non formal culture so that the students teaching &non teaching staff are at ease.

What are your future plans for the college?

To introduce more activities that by students that are socially beneficial in nature. include more option in placement cell

What are the extra curricular activities in your college?

Everything from sports to elocution to drama plus infinite opportunities for organizing.

There has been a lot of news about BMM being introduced in Marathi? What do you feel about the same?

It shall be beneficial for student unable to do do in English medium BMM due to their vernacular background.

Tell us something about the college festivals and your students’ performances?

Raheja BMM has its unique & one of kind inter- collegiate festival TAKE -21. it is a one day festival packed with only media related events ( no dance fashion show). Which is a year old & students performance with respect to it is excellent as in a budget of 15000/- the fest generated a profit of 5000/-Rs despite giving only cash prices without charging any sort of fees from the participants.

How has the mindset of the students changed over the years in respect of their career and their values of discipline and culture?

The change has been gradual. I firmly believe that students’ behaviour in college is a reflection of the teachers’ attitude.

And as a person what is your mission, long-term objective or goal?

To introduce various methods of discipline, communication skills & training which will help students not only in BMM but also in the years that shall follow.

Is there any placement assistance that the college provides after students graduate from your college?

Yes. But for limited interested students only. The college also offers internship opportunities.

Is there any other course that your college provides?

All the other self financing courses; BMS, BAF, BBI, BSC. IT. BFM

Add on courses like Journalism , mass communication, travel & tourism, retail management, animation

And if a student has failed to secure admission into your college by say 2 or 3 marks, then is there any other way that he can get in or any quota?

The college does not follow any other quota besides minority & reserved( as approved by the university of Mumbai). The management seats too are converted into the open category & are allocated per merit only.

But in the scenario mentioned above the college if approved but the university tries to help the student against cancellation or in some other semester

What are the prospects after BMM?

Its helps a lot as it gives a detailed course in many areas like marketing, advertising, journalism, television, media planning, copywrting, PR etc

A person can do MBA in any of the above mentioned fields or go for a masters course in media

But having said that I must add that BMM alone is just a bachelors degree at the end of it & students are required to learn a lot more for a job that they wish to settle in

CERTAIN ASPECTS OF BMM/ MY VIEWS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE

Student should not take up bmm by just the glamour of the course. I agree that the course is very attractive & offers variety of subjects from cinema to journalism to advertising to photography to psychology so students should be well aware of the fact that there may be certain modules that they may not like or they might not have a the aptitude for that yet they will have to study them.

Bmm as most people think is about making ads & being creative. This is what I have learnt from them. Parents & student do not have an idea about the course. Many a times they enroll for it as they are getting the admission in some or the other quota so they do not want to let go of it.

1 other important aspect is the fee structure. Its 18415 approx & in the coming years will only add plus student need to spend a lot on their projects. Interested ones may spend on participation in inter collegiate events, fest the industrial visits etc. students who fails to do so may not feel like part of the class & when parents realize the financial situation it may be too late.

I am not trying to discourage students from perusing the course but I wish that all of them take it up for the right reasons.
